Wait in the Dark.

Encouragement reminds me of a friend I had years ago. You never knew when he was going to be around, but when he was, life felt all the better for it. It doesn’t take much for us to be encouraged. A kind word spoken or some good news received unexpectedly can infuse just enough hope in us to change the entire course of a day, month, year or….life. When Paul tells Timothy to “be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus”, he must have known that Timothy needed a boost. And we all do, except most of us probably don’t get a verbal pick-me-up every day unless our last name is Kardashian, Pitt or Z (ok, so I don’t know Jays real last name).

Here’s what we do have if our lives are in Christ though, and that’s grace. And like Timothy, it’s that grace that we draw from because it never stops drawing us into the reality that is God’s goodness in our lives.

We choose not to see it very often, but the effects are stunning when we do.
